Male Impotence

Erectile dysfunction (ED), is also known as male impotence, or the inability to achieve and/or sustain an erection both long and hard enough for sex. ED is a common male sexual dysfunction that effects 30 million men in the United States alone. Often, erectile dysfunction is treated with a prescription medication, like Viagra, Cialis, or Levitra, available through your general practitioner. These prescriptions work by increasing the levels of nitric oxide in your blood, which widen the blood vessels increasing blood flow. These drugs target the blood vessels within the penis making it easier for you to get and maintain an erection during sexual arousal. The problem with these ED drugs is that they come with unpleasant side effects. Many men are so frustrated with their erectile dysfunction condition that they turn to the well-known and heavily advertised prescription drugs (i.e. Levitra, Cialis, Viagra) before learning the side effects, or seeking alternative treatments for the condition.

The most common side effects associated with well-known ED prescription drugs, include:

•Body Aches and Pains
•Digestive disturbances
•Vision changes
•Skin Reactions

Some less common, but serious side effects, include:

•Priapism (erections lasting longer than 4 hours)
•Sudden hearing changes
•Vision loss

While your general practitioner may be aware of the condition and the popular drugs to treat it, they do not specialize in the condition. A men’s sexual dysfunction specialist will be able to educate you on your specific condition and help you discover any underlying condition that could be causing your ED. A men’s sexual dysfunction expert will also be more familiar with available treatment options for treating ED.

What we have found…

At the Louisville Men’s Clinic we have found that about 70% of men do not respond well to these well-known ED drugs, including Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. These men have negative side effects that do not out-weigh the benefits of taking such drugs, and/or had unsatisfactory results. For these reasons the Louisville Men’s Clinic exclusively uses custom-blended sublingual medication for our patients as opposed to prescribing the mass-marketed prescription drugs to treat ED and other sexual dysfunctions. Sublingual medications are administered by placing them underneath the tongue. They come in the form of a tablet, film, or spray, and are administered independently at home. The medication is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through tiny blood vessels, or capillaries located underneath the tongue.

Sublingual medications are able to be compounded by our physicians to be custom-blended specifically for your individual needs. This ensures you are getting the medication you need without the additives of ingredients you do not need for your condition. Sublingual medications often eliminate most, if not all, of the side effects associated with other oral medications for ED. Because they are compounded with the correct ingredients, in the appropriate amounts for each individual, using sublingual medications in our practice have helped us achieve a 97% success rate for custom men’s treatments.
